- A model railway is prominent at this early stage. It offers motion, energy and its transfer. Power is supplied by a power pack consisting of a transformer, a rheostat for regulating voltage supplied to the track (and thus train speed), and a switch to control train direction.
- A cog drive system links the motor to the wheels. The motor turns the gears that turn the wheels and drive the locomotive down the railway lines when the locomotive is powered by electricity. Simple! Your locomotive wheels' contact point with the rail is incredibly tiny.
- Routes to specific stations depend on understanding points. More than several crashes have occured already.
